My name is Tanya James, and I live in Turvey with my husband and 3 children.
I studied at The London College of Fashion where I attained a Higher Diploma in Beauty Therapy . From there, I worked in various salons as a Beauty Therapist, before getting married, and having children.
After having children, I started my own business treating clients in their homes in the evenings, working around my family. When we moved to Bedfordshire, I worked in the local playgroup for a while, before again, working on a mobile basis as a Beauty Therapist . Having had an interest in Holistic therapies for a long time, I decided to study Reflexology and then Indian Head Massage at Bedford College. Once I had passed my exams, and built up the holistic side of the business, I realised how much I enjoyed both giving massage and the success my clients reported from the experience .
It also seemed obvious to me that there was a gap in the market. I was unable to massage my pregnant friends and family, as at that time, I wasn’t specifically trained. I also was unable to recommend anyone, and so decided to train myself! I went to London, and trained with Suzanne Yates who runs the Wellmother courses. These are aimed at trained Massage Therapists, Midwives and Shiatsu Therapists. The course was just what I needed at the time, and really inspired me.
Since then, I have completed a Post Graduate certificate in Advanced Clinical Massage Therapy at the Jing Institute in Advanced Massage Training in Brighton. I am currently studying a level 6 BTEC (equivalent to a degree) in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage Therapy. I am due to graduate in July 2012, and at this stage I will be one of 30 of the most qualified Massage Therapists in the UK.
I am very passionate about what I do, and constantly strive to be at the top of my profession, through attending courses, conferences and workshops relevant to my work.
