Myofascial release

Myofascial release is a non-invasive treatment using a small amount of wax. This treatment loosens restricted connective tissue or fascia.

Fascia has the appearance of a spiders web and is densely woven, covering every muscle, bone, nerve, artery, vein and internal organ in the body. It is one continuous sheath running from head to toe without interruption so each part of the body is connected by the fascia.

Myofascial restrictions are produced by trauma, surgical operations, or even through bad posture learnt over time. The fascia sticks to the muscles causing restrictions.

A high percentage of people suffering with pain or lack of motion may be having fascia problems which won’t be solved through regular massage. It may clear up temporarily but can return once the fascia tightens again.

A variety of techniques are used either ‘directly’ or ‘indirectly’, and either or both may be used, depending on the condition and the desired effect.

It is particularly effective for treating fibromyalgia, and chronic fatigue syndrome, as well as any injuries where there may be scar tissue, or acute and chronic pain.

I also work with clients using structural realigning techniques with the fascia to aid with postural rebalancing.

Testimonials

I recently received a massage from Tanya using Myofascial work. I was at first a little sceptical having only ever had deep tissue massage, but this was so much more than just a massage! I have ‘hung’ onto physical and emotional aches for many years, that I have received massage, counselling and Chiropractic treatment for but always felt something was missing. This massage did all 3 things in one! I have a feeling of being unravelled from a tight coil. I would highly recommend a massage with Tanya. She truly gives more than just a massage!!” – Pauline – Bozeat

“Tanya is so lovely and understanding. She also has magical hands, she can reach muscles you never knew you even had.” – Lorna Weall
